Get some serious sparkle in your life with these diamante hair pins!
Whether its for a wedding, special occasion or just to got to the shops, sometimes you just need something that sparkles, and these diamante hair pins definitely do the job! Using Czech glass stones in metal settings, all you need is some wire and plain hair pins, no fancy wire techniques required, I promise.
You will need:
-A selection of stones in settings - I'm using 4mm (ss16) round, 10 x5mm navettes and 10x6mm pears
-hair pins
-0.4mm wire
-chain nose pliers and cutters
How to:
To make it easier to see what I'm doing in the photos, I'm using a contrasting colour of wire
1.Take one the the navette stones and turn it upside down. There are four holes on the back if the setting take a 20-30cm length of wire across the shortest way, up the side and back across the other holes. Aim for this stone to be just off the middle of the length of wire.
2.Take one of the small 4mm stones and thread along one side on the longest side of wire
3.Holding this stone tightly up against the other stone, take the wire across the back and through the remaining two holes. You can either do this with your hands or the chain nose pliers.
4.Using the same side of wire, take it across the back of the pear shaped stone
5.Hold it in place and bring the wire round the outside and through the other holes
6.Bring the two ends of wire together and twist a couple of times to secure
7.Bring the ends of the wire out to the side and lay the bent section of the hair pin on top
8.Wrap each end of wire tightly around the pin 3- 5 times. Trim off the excess.
9.These pins look great in groups, so why not make a few. Play around with the way the stones sit to get different looks!
